BALE MOUNTAINS, THE LAST WILD ISLAND OF ABYSSINIA

This exhibit is part of a larger project aiming at promoting the conservation of the Bale Mountains, in Ethiopia. Along with the exhibit, lectures and publications will help increase recognition of this Biodiversity Hotspot. This personal initiative got support from Fondation de France, Frankfurt Zoological Society, Ministère de la Jeunesse des Sports et de la Vie Associative, Bale Mountains National Park, tour operator Solomon Berhe, and Ethiopian Airlines among others. LES PASSAGERS DE L'ANTARCTIQUE

This exhibit is part of an education project on energy consumption and its effects on global warming. Taking advantage of the International Polar Year, the Conseil Général de l'Eure (France), in partnership with local NGO Eure Solaire will organize workshops for over 200 students, explaining how our daily habits have been slowly changing the world, as far as Antarctica. They will give tips and ideas to reduce our impacts on our environment, without giving up on comfort. The International Polar Foundation and the French Polar Institute support the initiative. BIRDS AND PEOPLE IN ANTARCTICA

This White and Black exhibit shows how much Antarctica is not a bicolor world, but one of infinite contrasts. The rolls had been processed in the archaic dark room of the French Antarctic station, where I lived for 14 months. Well, it did not make the photographs better, but it was the only way to see real pictures while rolls of color slides were piling up waiting for the end of the journey.
